Vocabulary

This week we are starting something new for our 5th graders.

In addition to Spelling once a week, we are now introducing Vocabulary! Each week our spelling list will have a corresponding Vocabulary list. This list will consist of EIGHT words that your student will learn on Monday, have a practice assignment due on Friday and then take a quiz over on Friday.

The Vocabulary word list is made of the EIGHT words on the Spelling list that have the Greek or Latin root. That way the student is working with the same set of words.

This week, our Vocabulary consists of Geometry words to help introduce our new Geometry Vocabulary in Math Class.

Please help your student study these words at home over the week. They can make flashcards, you can quiz them...or come up with your own creative way to study!

Our first Vocab quiz will be THIS Friday!

Strengthening Our Logic

In Reading class we have been working on Logic Puzzles to help with our creative thinking, our inferencing and judging whether or not things make sense. The students have really seemed to LOVE doing these! You use the clues given and process of elimination solve the puzzle. I found this aweseome website where you can solve the logic puzzle online, or print them and fill them out.
