Blogging a Headline

Newspaper editors work under intense pressure and must write up news headlines very quickly. Occasionally, the headlines turn out to mean something very different than what they were intended to mean.

Each one of the following headlines actually appeared in a newspaper at some point.
Choose one, write out two sentences, the first infer what you REALLY think the story was about. For the second sentence, make an inference about what an alternate story might have been for the headline.

Monday, October 11 is Parent/Teacher Conference Day! There is NO SCHOOL for students this day. Make you sure you have confirmed with me your time! I sent home emails and letters so hopefully you aware of when you need to come in.
